The new year is bringing a slate of new changes! We are simplifying WDA’s membership and pricing plan. IJO now has a new publisher and is open access.

IJO gets new publisher and open access

We have switched publishers for IJO from Taylor and Francis to German Wachholtz. In doing so, we are now able to offer “free-to-members” open access publishing in IJO. Wachholtz does not offer paper-bound journals, so IJO will now be electronic only. However, as part of the shift to open access, all IJO articles (past, present, and future) will now be available online for free. Wachholtz will host new issues of IJO on their website, and as of January 1, 2021, we will be hosting all existing issues on our website.

Look for additional updates in the next issue of Agrion and on the frontpage of this website, starting in January 2021.

A new simplified membership plan

Because IJO will now be open access and no longer offered in print, we have shifted our membership pricing to three simple categories with updated pricing:

  • Regular (£50/year) – the standard category
  • Reduced (£25/year) – this category is reserved for students and those residing in developing nations
  • Family (£75/year) – a category for families of up to 4 people that want to share a WDA membership

We will be shifting users to these new categories as their previous 1-year memberships expire. You can find out more about these new categories here. We hope this change make things simpler and more streamlined for our members moving forward.

Renewing your membership: what do you need to do?

In our transition to new membership categories, we will ask all users to make a one-time switch to one of the new membership categories as your previous one-year membership expires. You will need to do this even if you opted for automatic renewal.

In making this transition, some members have received confusing and conflicting emails (“your membership will renew in 7 days” or “your membership has been cancelled”). We apologize for these inadvertent messages and the confusion they may have caused. Follow the steps below to make the transition and please contact Will if you experience issues or have additional questions.

How to renew your membership

When your 2019/2020 membership expires, you’ll need to make a one-time transition to the 2021 membership categories. You can view your membership expiration date by logging in to this website and clicking “Account” in the top right corner.

  1. Click here to login and be redirected to the membership levels page
  2. Choose one of the 3 updated membership categories (Regular, Reduced or Family)
  3. Complete the checkout process
  4. If you are transitioning from an old Family category to the new Family category, please contact Will to help move existing family members over to your new account

Next year, your membership will renew automatically at your new level if you check the automatic renewal checkbox.

Thank you for your continuing support for WDA!
